Guest harry dent
Hi All, Do you think it would be a good idea to get all the TR5's together for a photo shoot in the main ring area of which is the domain of Robinson/Redway chat show?.I was amazed to find a friend had purchased a TR5 two years ago and it was in front of mine on the production line.Well last month they got together for the first time in 37 years and if I can reproduce the photo on this site you will be able to see the moment. I am really having trouble with this. Regards Harry. See you at the Inter.
Andrew Smith
By proxy: Hi All, I was amazed to find a friend had purchased a TR5 two years ago and it was in front of mine on the production line. Well last month they got together for the first time in 37 years - see photo below. They were both in white and I believe it was normal for Triumph to paint them this colour, if not sold to a customer. Regards Harry. See you at the Inter.
Harbottle
A couple of nice cars Harry, although I prefer yours without the toast rack on the back. Mind you there appears to be a lot of scaffolding in the rear. See you on saturday .
Guest AndyTR250
Now for the poorer relations. Not a TR5 per se. Heres my TR250, with yours truly setting off for work, after moving all the other riff-raff out of the way.
Guest James Fitzpatrick
Another US based TR5. Brought over to the US 10 years ago when I moved from the UK. I've just moved to the San Jose area (California), and I have no idea how to register the vehicle! Guidance very much appreciated. Thanks Jim
Guest James Fitzpatrick
With image - I hope! Another US based TR5. Brought over to the US 10 years ago when I moved from the UK. Duncan Jolly
James, great looking car and just the right registration. How do you get around emmission controls in the USA now given that they were the reason the TR250 was issued in the States and not the TR5? I expected to see a whole bunch of pics from the International posted her eby now, so with apologies to the owners of the cars I will stsrt the ball rolling again with this image. Duncan. Guest harry dent
Duncan I may be wrong, but is this TR5 only a show car and not used as we use ours? Harry
Duncan Jolly
Harry, I suspect so. I know it has won many prizes including the NEC. It looks fantastic but can't possibly be driven regularly. All concours cars are supposed to be driven to the show - so perhaps we are wrong. All very nice to look at(purists will point out the lack of black sills)but for me the cars are for driving not to be kept as trophies. Due to the rain i never got around to taking a pic of your super car Harry - I will make amends at Duxford. Duncan.
jonlar
Is XWA550G the 5 owned by a couple from my neck of the woods - Cornwall, the one that's won the Auto Glym trophy for the last couple of years??
Harbottle
To follow Duncans lead, Here is a picture of Alun Jones the leader or the Red Rose group with miniature copy from Malvern.
Harbottle
I must be awake when I post next time. The above should read , Picture of Alun Jones car and miniature copy from Malvern,Alun not being present in the photo, only some drunken female trying to steal his tax disc who was escorted away after some time still claiming to be his wife. Guest harry dent
This what I mean by using our cars as Triumph intended. Regards Harry TR5 nutter. See you all at Duxford 21st August.
Duncan Jolly
Harry, a fine action shot. A TR5 seen as it should be - at speed.
Harbottle
Ah but Duncan, is it racing up the hill or rolling back down? Only joking Harry, I saw your car at malvern and very nice it was too.
Guest mwk407g
Hi All, Herewith my first TR5 post! Enclosed is pic of my TR5 "Mohawk" at a gite near Arras in France, where we stayed recently with 2 other couples from Cambs Followers, with their TR3A and TR4 respectively. This was our 4th year in France, and a great place it is for open top, open road motoring (plus food, wine and scenery!) The car's name was chosen by one of the Cambs Followers lady followers, if you see what I mean, and was taken from the registration number MWK 407G. This is the car restored by Ian Rigby (see other posts on this topic) and covered in TR Action. A fine job he did too! So hopefully this photo will encourage Ian to crack on with his current restoration! Regards to fellow fivers, Chris
Duncan Jolly
And here is the picture that should have gone with Chris's post above....
