McMuttley
Hi i am (still) trying to wire up my fog and spot lamp. In order to minimise the risk of messing up the existing loom i was not proposing to take feed from the existing lights, but simply have them as manually switched. I am using a simple lucas on / off pull switch - which has inly two connections Someone kindly sent me a diagram lsst year, but the switch had 3 connections. Basically, as per my sketch, i assume 1 switch connection goes to power, but where does the other go ? (The terminals on the back of thecswitch are not labelled, does it matter which is used fror ?) (The switch is connected to a metal switch plate screwed to the dash) (I will be repeating the same pattern for both fog and driving lamp - unless told otherwise) Grateful as always
Cew
Would one of the connections be for a warning light perhaps?
Noel Maule
Looking at your diagram I would think its probably a bridging switch. power in from the battery on one terminal and power out to lamp or relay from the other. Noel
RogerH
Hi Austin, now what are you doing dabbling with things that go bang. Put it down and have a cup of tea. The switch goes between battery positive and the coil of the relay 86. Pin 85 goes to earth Pin 30 goes to battery positive Pin 87 goes to the lamp feed. The earth of the lamp goes to -ve. Assuming -ve earth. ref www.vehicleproducts .co.uk Roger
McMuttley
Thanks Roger, i changed my polarities, does that make me negative
McMuttley
"The earth of the lamp goes to -ve." Is this an earth on chassis or body ?
RogerH
Changing your polarity is a very positive thing to do. Only negative people would encourage positive earth. The above description should function. You could consider putting an in-line fuse on the wire from the battery to the switch. Roger
RogerH
If you have changed your polarity then I assume that your negative connector on the battery goes to body. The body, chassis and engine should all be connected together. The positive side of the battery should stay inside of the wires. Do not let the smoke out of the wires Roger
