Hi All

After a long run over the weekend I noticed that the carb dashpots were very hot. Not hot enough to fry an egg but not able to keep hand on them.

Is this usual. Is it heat generated from under the bonnet or something more sinister.

Apart from that the car never missed a beat in over 400km.

Regards

Brian

All normal. It's just engine heat soaking into the carbs via the inlet manifold fixing bolts, plus some reflected heat from the exhaust manifold.

To some degree it can be lessened with a heat shield between the exhaust and carbs, but not essential unless you get fuel vaporisation problems over summer.

Rgds,

Viv.
