Dick Posted June 1, 2013 Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 Which way up should a head gasket be fitted....bead up or down.....just had mine fail at the back of number 4 cylinder it was fitted bead up. Dick Posted June 1, 2013 Author Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 Hi Ash, Thx for the quick reply...I would have thought bead down..........it's has lasted 25 years bead up.... but was it fitted the right way round?...hoping for another 25years. You say the liner heights are ok, what are the heights measured with a depth micrometer at 4 positions around each liner along the block? (Only way to measure them).
