Door shut locks

Recommended Posts

Hi all ,aligning the doors up and noticed the lock on the o/s clicks twiceand locks on the b post, but n/s side only once then you can pull the door back,is there a fix for these locks as they look sealed, tried soaking in wd40 etc but no effect.

Have you checked that it is the lock itself and not just that the striker plate needs moving out a bit to allow the latch to go all the way over centre?

If its not that then it sounds as if the internal latch spring may have gone, I had a similar problem with one. Nothing you can do about it short of finding another. Its the same as the TR6 one.

Conrad actually got in the garage today,I lifted the body off the chassis and took out a spacer on the n/s triangle outrigger.and bolted all back down ,the gap closed up a lot well impressed ,the o/s is good the door shuts with two clicks on the catch ,got to move the n/ front wing back a touch then should be presentable not perfect though, then on to the boot and bonnet which should be fun, laid the bonnet on the shell and noticed there's a gap either side so what's the trick to close that up a bit? (Stuart)

Could do with a picture of the inner wing and outer wing to see how high the wing sits before the beading is put in,

Wow that went on a bit ,sorry

Regards nick.

With the outer wings off you can bend the tops of the inner wings inwards (Or outwards depending on the gaps) the bend can be done with lengths of 2x2 and a ratchet strap to keep it even. Or if they need to go out then jack off the engine with wood on the insides of the drip rails. There is a lot of trial and error and on and off of the bonnet to get it right but its worth it. The outer wing to inner wing top relationship depends on the front panel to wing and the rear end of the wing to door and sill lines and the forward deck as well. Then the wing beading sits on top of the wing. Sometimes you will just see a bit of the tabs between inner and outer and sometimes you need to shave a gnats off the top of the inner wing to even get them to sit correct.
