Badfrog
Hi all, The scribd download for the Maclay book isn't free. This one is: http://www.trregisterfrance.com/TR3rallye/TR3Rallye_documentation/tr_maint_mod_tuning.pdf It's true that in the absence of a twin-cam, a crossflow head would already be a major progress for the TR, but more for intellectual satisfaction about proper engineering than true performance. Kastner's cars did well without. My personal gut feeling is that toad handling is a better line of action (I meant road handling of course but felt I'd save the frog typo). ianc
I know that Reg Woodcock, who had the fastest racing TR in the 1960s/1970s (so fast that he embarrassed the likes of Zagato Astons and E-Types) has a Lawrencetune cross-flow cylinder head (Reg has a lot of interesting items!), but has told me that he would never fit it because there's no point! And I think that the reliable power being extracted by the likes of Karl Wetherell (racing) and Tony Sheach (rallying) show that Reg is correct. Even the cleverest designers sometimes over-reach themselves! Ian Cornish
