MOT Pass and washer pumps

Recommended Posts

It felt like I was getting my A-level results - but I got a nice first time 'pass' again! No advisories for the first time in ages too!

It wasn't all plain sailing though - I got through 3 windscreen washer pumps before I could put it through the test! I foolishly laughed in the face of the recent posts about refurbishing the old pump and bought the unbranded lookalikee from ebay - it was great for the once or twice it ran before burning itself out! Back to the original, which was flagging - well that flagged one last time. So back to ebay and a slightly more expensive one from MGB Hive  (still a repro - but with labelling for flow and voltage which shows some effort at least) and we're back in business. I say more expensive - it was about £7 with postage! Much cheaper than any of the TR suppliers could manage for an equivalent - why is that?

There was nothing ironic about the tester passing it without testing the washers on trust then, (he couldn't find the button), I had to drag him back to the car to prove they work anyway after all the effort!

All the best,

Michael.
