hermanhoekstra
Hello there, My Tr7 drophead bj 1980 has Ford Capri 2.6 front brakes. The steering wheel shakes heavily when i brake (hard of soft braking makes no difference) The brakes where on the car when i bought it and the problem was already there. The car has an anti dive kit Does anybody have any idea what the problem is and maybe a solution? Thanks in advance for your help Greetings Herman
mikehardwick
Herman - Sounds like warped discs to me. If you have a friendly local garage they will probably use a run-out gauge to check it for you. Good luck - Mike
andrewt
Or debris trapped between the disc and the hub flange. this can often be corrosion swelling hence displacing the disc. Do you also notice the first time you press the pedal after driving a reasonable distance that the pedal travel is longer than if you press it again after coming to a halt. this would show you that the caliper pistons are being pushed back by the run out.
