scorpio
Hello All & One I'm a new virgin member and join with my first ever TR6 IT needs lots of TLC, so you will have to put up with questions I'm sure you will know the answer to! 1/ Can anyone recommend a good TR6 injection-engine specialist? My car has had all the injection parts replaced in January this year by the previous owner, he got the car up and running after 12 stored in a garage!! 2/ Within 5 min of driving, the water temperature gauge reaches the hot, its had a new Sender fitted!? 3/ Is it worth the money fitting an electric fan? 4/ Thinking about fitting the "The AccuSpark™ electronic ignition module " and coil 5/ Need to replace the seats MX5? or should I get them re trimmed? Any advice on any improvements Regards Steve Randall "Scorpio"
simonjrwinter
Hi Steve and welcome. Plenty of injection specialists, Presige has a good reputation but there are others I would check that your waterways and rad are clear by flushing them out. There may be a lot of rusty sludge blocking them and if it's overheating badly could be a problem lecky fan always a worthwhile option but not until the problem of overheating (presuming it got too hot just driving normally?) is sorted MX5 seats HUGELY comfortable over the originals. You will sit an inch or so higher but they are SUCH an improvement, it's worth it. Simon
scorpio
Cheers for reply Simon, A bit worried about the increase in seat height, I'm almost 6ft tall. Maybe Ill try and find a member near me, so that i can test them out first! I believe you can fit the MGF seats? Steve
simonjrwinter
Steve, the MX5 seats need an adaptor so they can fit in the original holes in the floor. I believe there is new a lower option which puts the seats nearer to the original height. Never heard of MGF seats being fitted, but I'm sure someone will tell you if they are suitable. Les Pettitt
Hi Steve, I got the low brackets from Tr Trader and have not noticed an increase in height over the original seats. High back speaker seats came from Paul Bishop, black leather with yellow stitching and uprated speakers. Great guy to deal with. Seats so comfortable even my wife likes them. tallpaul
Welcome to the forum Steve. I have fabric MX5 seats in my '71 TR6. They are very comfortable. I am 6'2" and have no problem with vision, although with long arms as well, I use a fair bit of recline. A lot of very helpful and knowledgable people on here. good luck with your project. PIAA
Hi Steve CR6700? Pretty late CR then as according to Rimmer Bros overview the last production number is CR6701... http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/content--name-Triumph-TR6-Vehicle-Information 1. I've got CR6611. Changed the injection system completly with parts from Prestige. Found Malcolm Jones very helpful and serviceminded answering all my different questions. http://www.prestigeinjection.net/ 2. After a proper cleanup my engine runs rather too cold than too hot, I rinsed the engine and radiator several times, found lots of nasty stuff in there. Recommend a proper cleaning to start with if heat's a problem. 3. During rebuilding the car I removed all the mechanical fan parts and mounted a Revotec Electric fan. Got proper mounting brackets and works excellent the few times it runs. http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=7372 4. I fitted MagnaSpark electronic ignition with good results. Got mine from Revington. There is lots of opinions on this matter I belive. http://www.texautomotive.com/magna_spark.html 5. It's all up to personal opinion, IMHO the original seats looks best. Did not grow to be the tallest so for me they are quite comfy too, even on a longer run. Good luck with your project. You'll find almost all the information you need and lots of help here at worlds best forum!! PIAA
D1070
i wonder if the commission plate is actually CR670 O, indicating overdrive is fitted, seem to recall DVLA have problems with zeros and Os , cheers, Laurence
saffrontr
Steve, As noted by Laurence your TR6 is likely to be CR670-O rather than CR6700-O which is and always has been in New Zealand. This of course means that you just miss out on the historic tax classification as your TR would have been built on the 2nd January 1973. cheers Derek
scorpio
Thank you guys! After your replies I checked the plate under the bonnet, and its a CR670 O!! and yes I have overdrive. Thanks for the help with seats, I'm going to Castle Combe Race Track, in Wiltshire, this Saturday, Bristol Pegasus Motor Club Sprint will be held, free entree. I think there is a number of TR;s racing? so will check out the various seat fitted,. This is a brilliant club, full of information and help!! Steve
GPEG
Steve, I too got my seats from Paul Bishop £420.00 (pair) and brackets from www.trtrader.com £77.00, very pleased with the finished job. You may want to get some longer bolts to the secure floor brackets as you have to squash the carpet down underneath. The original bolts are a bit short.
scorpio
Do you have a web site for Paul Bishop? Can you paste up some pictures of your new seats? Cheers Steve
