Missing heater bits

Hello, all. need some help with my TR2 (TS 5443 O)heater assy. the matrix and casing with the screen vent ducting are all present, with a pull cable

(knob next to o/drive switch) that operates a butterfly flap inside a 2"ish tube that ends

behind the glove box. There is a flap at the bottom of the heater that I'm assuming is for cabin/screen. BUT there is no fan or electrical connections anywhere, and no sign of any sort of switch ever being fitted. Any ideas?

Roy, that's a bit of a mystery and sounds like a modification by a PO.

 

Cables weren't used until the TR4 heater, which is a very different beast.

 

On the dash beside the O/D switch, there should be a rotating heater switch with rheostat to control fan speed. The fan is in the middle of the heater core, with its wiring entering from the top.

 

Hot air was directed to either the demisters or cabin via manual flaps in the bottom of the heater core.

 

Before using an old heater it's important to get the core pressure tested at a radiator shop. They are prone to bursting and spraying very hot water over occupant's legs.

 

When fitting the heater make sure the top hose clips are really tight, as you can't readily access them later.

Roy, according to the factory parts manual, the same circular heater was an accessory for all TR2-3B cars.

 

So you could use a 3A for comparison, being more common.

 

Slightly different versions of TR heaters were used by Landrover and others, so yours could be a variant.

 

Heaters were often retro fitted to overcome the winter demisting problem.

Strange thing is, the heater box is painted the same colour

as the hood frame, a reddy brown, as if it is original.

 

Originally, heaters were black and hood frames were

a beige colour to match the hood.
