Neil, The attached link will be of help to you and covers the point you raise. I remember I got mine off OK, but not sure what I used now, but I did read the attached before I started.

They can be very difficult to remove, sometimes a bit of warmth ;) as well as a puller will help.

Anytime Paul you know that ;) I had to remove a quarter of the thread at the end just to take the nut off :(

 

I have a good rocker shaft if needed Neil.

Hi Guys

Just trying to overhaul a steering box (thanks Paul) is there a way of

removing the above?without the Churchill tool or hammer as per the book

 

I've found that a big hammer works wonders with taper joints, and

this one is similar.

 

But - you don't hit components in the direction they come off -

you hit on the side. Big hammer, and hard, a few times. Maybe

even a heavy block on the other side. It's the shock that does it.

 

Isn't that what the two lugs on the side are for ? ! !
