lord65
Just read the last thread with interest. My overdrive works beautifully until everything warms up. Then it fails to engage however much I flick the switch! Any pointers? Simon
Tr4Tony
Oil pressure ? or a bad earth on the feeds to the various switches ? both worth checking out before you despair .....
ianc
Oil level in the gearbox/overdrive? Pitted contacts on the overdrive relay - this can cause high resistance such that the solenoid receives few or no volts. I've had two relays fail this way. Smokey
Check the relay. The repro relays can be totally useless, and the only way I was able to get reliable operation was with an original Lucas relay. I had the opposite problem (with two repro relays) - the overdirve would not disengage when warmed up, and the only way to disengage it was to turn off the engine and wait. Maybe Lucas wasn't so evil after all....
LGFromage
Suggest that you take the top off the solenoid and clean points on the switch. Don Elliot suggested this a few weeks ago so I gave it a try (amongst other things) and it worked wonders. Tim
