Jack Horner
After a quick blast in my car (TR2), I opened the bonnet and there was some smoke ( not a lot) coming from the breather cap on the rocker cover. I dont have a breather hose on the rocker cover, so is this normal?
Don Elliott
If you haven't been driving your TR2 for a while, it may simply be the humidty that accumulated during that time. Continue to drive it and if it goes away or stops, it's no longer a problem. If it persists, it might mean something else more serious is causing this. But these TRactor engines can run for a long time with this condition.
Jack Horner
Thanks Don.
dykins
If you don't have a breather hose, then I think that the rocker cap should have some form of breather hole - could it be from there and therefore quite normal? Regards Peter
stuart
Jack I have seen this a few times on rebuilt engines and provide you have the right oil filler cap with the vents and your crankcase breather is clear then it will disappear after a while. Do you have the extra oil feed pipe up to the rockers as this may not help and should be unnecessary on a rebuilt engine. Stuart.

Hi Peter, The smoke does come from the Oil filler cap vents, I just have never seen a car do this before. Hi Stuart, I will check the breather tonight, didn't even know it was there until I checked the parts list. The filler is the correct type. Does the extra oil feed pipe go up to the head and attach at the end closest to the firewall, If so I don't, but I do have a bolt which is weaping a bit of oil, which I don't know what it is for. Looks like it could be in line with the internal oil way for the rockers. Regards Jack
