graeme
I have recently fitted twin DCOE webers to my TR4A and have cobbled together a bracket to allow the original linkage to be used during testing. I have a number of photos of weber setups on TRs and some have used the linkage but it would seem the majority use a twin cable system. Before I engineer a proper solution for the linkage, I would like the collective wisdom out there to help me decide on whether to use a cable system or keep the linkage. All thoughts are appreciated. MadMarx
I prefer linkage because it can't stuck that easy as the double cable. Most use cable and my Webers are equipped for this but I went with linkage. You can use a lot of parts of the SU system. TR 2100
I have recently fitted twin DCOE webers to my TR4A and have cobbled together a bracket to allow the original linkage to be used during testing. Hi Graham, I think a cable system would be more precise than any other system. Personally, I don't like the linkage running over the top of the manifolds - it just looks clumsy, so I would opt for a cable system before that. My own preference is a period manifold using linkage almost as original including the original bell crank. It's not so precise, but good enough for me. If your foot is on the floor, does precision matter?! Where to get a period manifold is another matter. I know the SAH one has provision for a bell crank, that's fitted to my first TR4, and I think the Derrington one also has this. Not sure about Mangoletsi ones, but it's almost academic anyway as you can't get one for love or money. I'm lucky enough to have acquired an SAH manifold many moons ago and picked up a Derrington one recently for TR 2100 - yet to be fitted. Both fitted with 42DCOEs. I totally agree, that's why my linkage is UNDER the carbs.
