Hello, My TR4/62 has a felt 'washer', about 3mm thick- I think that it is original. -- Regards, Juha Edited September 14, 2008 by svenjauhe
david ferry
John, There is a felt washer that fits below the metal disc partway up the dip stick. That's about it! The part number is 032307 it costs 95p! David
BrianC
I went to a steam rally at the weekend and there were at least a couple of stands selling felt seals, rubber grommets and blanking plugs, shakeproof and locking washers and nuts, bolts, etc of every kind. These were available either singly or in bags at about a £1. Estimated cost of the contents of one of these bags at a well-known TR specialist would be nearer £100. I'm prepared to pay a little extra for unique Triumph items, but the prices of basics are grossly inflated. These steam rally guys also sell sheets of gasket material, felt, cork and rubber so you can make your own seals and gaskets for a few pence (apart from head and manifold gaskets). Also a good source of various metal sheets for making up repair panels or customised 'bling' for those so-inclined.

Steam rallies are a great source of original Lucas items and original shrouded type thermostats and like Brian says considerably cheaper as well! Stuart.
