john.r.davies
Last year, after Motor Cycle News reported not only that helmet price had no relationship to performance and protection, but that the ACU scheme to licence them was corrupt, the Gov. promised to set in place a scheme to grade the perfomance of biker helmets. Recently, the first report of the "SHARP" - Safety Helmet and Assessment Rating Programme - was announced recently. Right away. MCN noted that the most expensive helmet tested (£300-400) got only three out of a possible five stars, while 5-star helmets included one at only £60! See the MCN report at: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/new...mp;R=EPI-101052 And browse SHARP at: http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/ So far, SHARP only deals with full-face, biker hats. Write to your MP to ask for it to be extended to all helmets ASAP! If you write to your MP, they MUST ask the Minister about your request, and the Minister MUST reply. You will not be ignored, but don't hold your breath! JOhn
Alec Pringle
Dear me John, If it wasn't for 'nice little earners', how could some afford to indulge their little peccadilloes, let alone their little litigation ? Cheers, Alec
john.r.davies
Now, now, Alec. Just because this morsel is handed to you on the end of a pole, by a sneering toff in a ruffled shirt........... Sorry, I forgot, this Government is a socialist one, isn't it? But can you ever imagine in your life that the other lot would do this? And full marks to MCN for proper investigative journalism and good lobbying, not prurient tosh and self-serving toadyism.
