marvmul
Can 'Kas Kastner's Triumph preparation handbook' be bought from the TR Register? I've read the book of Roger Williams 'How to improve Triumph TR2-TR4A' : it's a very useful book to find out what parts are available to improve the 4 cyl. TR's for road, rally and race. The book is focused mainly on 3 specialist companies, and a novice who has to make a choice will be biased to one of these three. This is not very fair to the other excellent specialists. The book of Kas Kastner seems to be very interesting if you want to know how a TR race car is actually build and set up.
Don Elliott
Steve Redway, the editor of TRaction, has a review copy and has been in contact with Kas as to how the TR Register can offer the book to UK TR Register members. I haven't heard back how that idea is progressing. From the above, I can only conclude that Steve has a good opinion of the contents of Kas's new book and that Steve will detail his opinions in the near future in TRaction. I hope that Steve's comments will describe how much of the contents of the book might benefit 4-cylinder TR owners. jean
Marvmul, If you would know the classic car racing world you would speek different. The engine parts necessary to built a race engine are only available from very specialized firms situated all over the world, these parts are rather expensive, and you need to know what you want, you don't find them in any standard spare parts catalogue. You will have to specify exactly what you need, and there are not many firms that are willing to find out for you what does fit your car and then put an order to the U.S.,Argentina or any remote place. Be lucky that there are 3 firms that will help you. Jean
john.r.davies
All, Don't think of Kas' book as a 'Guide to racing your TR'. but as the distilled wisdom of one who has done it and knows what he is talking about. And it's a jolly good read. too!. You can order one from Kas Kastner himself: 1611-A South Melrose Drive Vista, CA, 92081, USA for $34.50, plus P&P, IF there are any left, or Kas has ordered a second printing. The FoT website may be able to advise on the postage to the UK. John
