Nip down to your local motor factor and buy a timing light (I've got a Gunsons one that works fine). Then get hold of a Haynes TR7 manual - searching on ebay should bring one up. A lot of people knock the Haynes but I've found it invaluable. The first time we changed a TR7 engine we followed the section in the Haynes word for word!!

Good luck and let us know how you get on with the car,

Malcolm.

Hi Dave

My money is on a fueling problem. Another quick check is all of the vacume pipes around the carbs and the advance/ retard to the distributor for cracks and leaks. When you say she drives fine are there any flat spot with smooth acceleration? How does she tick over smooth/ hunting or lumpy??

What petrol are you using? Have you brought fuel from other than your usual station?

If you will give us some more feed back, we'll all be able to help you out.

Good luck Rob.
