Tried everywhere to try and find a pair of uk indicators 1971 does anyone know or have anything that might help me

Thanks Bob

Hi Bob,

About 18 months ago, Worcester Classic Cars got me a pair of s/h ones. They apparently got them from TRBitz in Warrington. Good hunting!

Hi Richard i was hopeing to get the complete units

Bob

OK. I’ve seen complete new (rebuilt?) units available from time to time but they seem to be subject to batch availability & are not cheap! You could try TRGB, they used to have a loft full of 2nd hand stuff at very good prices but you had to pick through it to find what you wanted. The US lenses are obviously NFG but are the Myzac castings that different that you couldn’t modify them with a little resourcefulness

A decade ago I needed the same and bought a pair from a large TR specialist supplier in UK (can't remember which one).

I got a pair but they were far from NOS and had been cobbled together and sold as remanufactured.

They were new US units (readily available) and had what I believe to be Dolomite indicator internals epoxied into them.

They were marginal but I had no alternative - I have not taken them off since and am paranoid to even touch them, expecting to be horrified with what I might find!!!

A bit of research and comparisons and I reckon you could do a better job yourself.

You can get boxed NOS Lucas lenses from time to time but they can be very expensive as the concourse brigade fight over them on eBay.

The repro 'Lucas' ones are fine for a daily driver, but the amber colour variation from the genuine originals is noticeable side by side.

PS

Since the recent prevalence of LED's, it may be easy enough to modify a US spec unit to use them as they don't need the reflectors of incandescent bulbs

As none have yet surfaced it looks like i am going to have to mod mine an buy some lenses

Thanks Bob

Hi Bob

I have got two second hand lenses that I have taken off my 1971 CP Series car. I also have one new repro lens but the chrome is damaged slightly as far as I can remember - not sure which side it is now. I am away tomorrow (Saturday) and most of Sunday, but I will try to dig them out at some point. I also have a pair of rubber backs for them which are OK - but have red overspray on them from a previous repaint, but I don't have the actual light fittings. I was going to keep them for emergencies, but if you are stuggling let me know. I did buy a pair of brand new Lucas UK spec lenses from the Sates for my rebuild. I probably paid more that I should have for them, but I wanted good lenses. I will try to get info of where I got them from and let you know.
