The TR Register has regretfully announced the postponement of the planned Round Britain Relay Tour that the club's promotional car, 'TS2' ( the first right-hand drive production TR2) was due to embark upon this April. The event's organiser and the Area Director for Scotland for the TR Register announced the move with the following letter to Group Leaders earlier this week;
Firstly, I wanted to thank you for the support and enthusiasm you’ve all shown for the TS2 UK relay tour to celebrate the TR Register’s 50th Anniversary this year.
I’ve been listening to your views as Group Leaders on the feasibility of proceeding with the tour this year and also the Government announcement of the key dates for easing COVID restrictions.
I have discussed the feasibility of the event with the Management Team and we’ve collectively come to the conclusion that, for the safety of our members, it is best that we delay this event until 2022.
I know that this will be a huge disappointment as we’ve been working very hard to make this a success in the hope that restrictions would be lifted in time. However, given the information now available, we believe this postponement is now unavoidable.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will send out the new schedule for 2022. We would like to keep the schedule as close to this year’s original proposal as possible. We have built in some extra halts to allow some more flexibility and we’re prepared to listen to any advice you might have or requests you’d like to make to ensure next year’s tour is even better.
I’d therefore like to kindly request that when we send out a draft of the Tour dates for 2022, that you let us know of any potential issues with local holidays or key shows that we should endeavour to attend.
So, disappointing news, however with your valued input we can make 2022 an even better TS2 Relay Tour.
Please feel free to write to me with any questions or suggestions you might have.
Finally, TS2 will hopefully be available again from the 21st June 2021, providing the Government date for lifting social restrictions remains on track. So, if you’d like to feature her at an event in your region after that date, then please get in touch with Jo at HQ and use the normal process to request use of the car for promotional purposes.
Best Regards
Stephen Hall,
Scotland Area Director – TR Register
