Richard competed in motorsports back in the 1960s in some weird thing called an Leonard MG - this had a body similar to a Ferrari Barchetta and a Tojeiro chassis. Six were made and one sold to AC which became the forerunner of the AC Ace. Richard wishes he still had it!
After the Leonard MG, Richard then built and sprinted a 1961 Mini with a 1300cc MG engine apparently quite popular among the unenlightened. In 2004 he replace a "lunatic Westfield" with a proper car, his now cherished TR4A. Mildly tuned, the car is now used for sprints, hillclimbs and track days as well as on the road.
Richard competes in the popular Tuned Roadgoing class, 2B
