rhino_mac
Thanks Alec, maybe I confused the issue talking about the Mota Lita on the car. Yes, the original is not currently fitted to the car and I need to get the grub screws out of this before I continue with the refurbishment. That video above is pretty impressive. Unfortunately, I don't have any specialist tools like this. I could buy a left handed drill bit no problem but I don't have a vice or pillar drill. I think I'm going to try soaking it in a few concoctions for a while before hitting it with any power tools. I have a friend who owns an engineers next door to my business unit. Unfortunately, he is a rubbish engineer - I wouldn't trust him screwing a lightbulb in never mind letting him loose on an irreplaceable part but he might have a member of staff or two who are good at this sort of thing! I have to admit I'm pretty nervous of killing the wheel so a softly softly approach seems to be the way to go before I try anything drastic. If all else fails, has anyone had any experience of spark eroding? I've been told this is an option but I don't know if it would leave the threads intact.

I have faith in loosening concoctions (which does not include WD-40, by the way). Give 'em some time -- I'm pretty sure this'll end happily in a week or two.
AlanT
Spark erosion is for stuff like taps that you can't drill. It's expensive. Just find an ordinary machine shop. With all those yachts on your door-step this can't be very difficult.
