Shropshire Group Report for TR Action 324
Shropshire Group’s Report for TR Action 324
No Club Nights, no Group runs, no shows no events and no social gatherings! But our TRsare not gathering dust. Members are exercising their cars in small groups of 4 or 5. We are incredibly lucky to live in the Shropshire Hills with Mid and North Wales on our doorsteps. This means that many interesting runs can be accomplished whilst ensuring social distancing. Most pubs and cafés in this area have gardens and we have been able to stay outside.
Places that Members have visited include Llandudno and the Great Orme, South Shropshire(to inspect the progress of Phil’s TR250), East Shropshire and the Ironbridge Gorge (two road closures were encountered) the Clee Hills and the Black & White villages of Herefordshire. Is this a lockdown or an opportunity?
The Whitchurch Wanderers have been making some runs into Wales and the Peak District on a regular basis. Trips have included a minor-roads run to Dolgellau, a day out to Barmouth with fish and chips on the sea front (watch out for the gulls – Jon), a slog to Aberdaron for a picnic and back on the hottest day of the year, a murky but very enjoyable trip into the Goyt Valley for another picnic and a tour of Lake Bala and the Lake Vyrnwy with a picnic on the water’s edge. Lots of picnics!
Club Nights have gone by the board. The Fox & Hounds is not yet resuming car club meetings, and, in any event, we cannot meet in groups of more than 30 people. However, we have held several virtual Group Meetings using Zoom – it helps us to remember what we all look like - although the lack of visits to the barbers and the acquisition of facial hair makes this difficult!
Members’ cars continue to be improved with Gordon Grant having replaced much of the braking system and the anti-roll bar bushes on his TR6 prior to it going in for bodywork surgery.
Hopefully, by the time you read this, in mid-September, a clearer picture will have emerged,
and we can plan more detailed Group activities. In the meantime, please follow our website at:
