TS2 visiting the Tay Group 4th, 5th and 6th of July 2022

To celebrate over five decades of uniting Triumph TR sports car enthusiasts, the TR Register announced that TS2, the Club’s promotional vehicle and the first right-hand-drive production TR2 built, would undertake a Round Britain Relay Run in 2022. The aim was to visit every one of the 53 local groups of the TR Register Car Club in the UK.

Monday TS2 joined the Tay Group at Clattering Brig where it was handed over by Alan Gibb of the Grampian Group. We had a small convoy run to Forfar to allow a member to have a drive of TS2 and show it to another member before getting it home.

Tuesday saw TS2 checked over, getting a wash and a new spare tyre fitted. Over the day we had local members booked in to drive the car on the interesting Angus B roads. The final run of the day was taking TS2 to visit Jim Clark statue in Kilmany in convoy with another side screen and more photos were taken.

Wednesday morning saw another check over of TS2, before a drive round Dundee to take photos of the car at some local sights of interest. Then onto the Dundee Museum of Transport to display TS2 and my TR6. At the museum TS2 was given pride of place at the entrance of the museum for all the visitors to see which helped promote the club and car. The Tay Group brilliantly supported the TS2 visit by turning up at the museum so there was a range of TR`s on display. Also, TS2 was kept busy by taking Tay Group members a number wee runs. To hear the exhaust rasp in an underpass made many folks day. Personally, having TS2 with the group was such a positive experience, not just driving the car but seeing others having such enjoyment from the whole experience.

Sadly, our next job was to pass on TS2 to the Derek and Cliff of the Forth and Borders at Broxden Services.
