Glavon Group, Downs & Plains Run - 7th May 2023

Eighteen TRs, a Jag and an MX5 mustered at Tetbury for this run, the day after the coronation of local lad King Charles III who had returned to his Tetbury home the evening before, at the end of his very busy day. It was great to be able to welcome Mark Stevens with his newly restored TR4A and also Arthur Williams and Anna in their trusty TR3A who we haven't seen for some time.

The route took us up onto the Marlborough Downs with lovely fast open roads, to Marlborough itself, where confusing signage indicating that the High Street was closed to traffic (due to a street party), caused a number of people to deviate from the route plan which had in fact avoided the closed section, but they were all back on track before long. 

A quick photo stop at Lockeridge and it was on to a coffee stop at the very interesting Honeystreet Mill Cafe alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal. The second leg took us on over Salisbury Plain to the National Trust's Stourhead property where we were directed to a grass area where we could all park together for our picnic in the by now warm sunny weather. 

After the picnic, and ice creams of course, some people elected to stay on to explore Stourhead gardens and house, whilst others continued with the homeward route  which took us through more lovely scenery including a beautiful avenue of trees where Andy West's TR4, which is celebrating its 60th birthday this month is pictured.
