Summer Barbecue - 22 July 2018
The Brunel Summer Barbeque went off a treat. Many thanks to Rob Lovell for hosting it and to the ladies and all the helpers for making it such a successful event. There were somewhere over 20 cars making quite a decent car show, with TR3As, TR4s, TR4As, TR5s, a TR250, a few TR6s, a TR7, one of the original TR7 Sprints, a Swallow Doretti, and an Italia. For a bit of variety we also had a Jaguar XK, Jaguar E Type, Mercedes SL350, and a Porsche 996 Turbo.Lots of photos on the Brunel gallery. The weather couldn't have been better, Rob and Tony's barbequing skills and Helen with the other girls delivering delicious bites, and there was plenty of shade for us all to have a great catch up with a glass of Pimms. The only interruption was the arrival of a TR5 in a trailer after a 10 year restoration in Lincolnshire! It was immaculate as you might expect and keeping true to the original looks belied the full race tuned engine lurking under the bonnet. The only visual giveaways were the 2½" exhaust tail pipe and the generous boots it was wearing. When started up it was very clear we are going to have trouble with this one at the next TR Track Day. The raffle raised just over £100 which brought a good smile to our treasurers face, and the prize for "The Car I would Most Like to Drive Home In" was won by Mike and Victoria Nangreave for their beautiful Swallow Doretti, you wouldn't believe it came from the TR2 era. It also turned out to be Elf's birthday, so happy birthday Elf, photos on the website.
