Festoon type bulbs

Recommended Posts

I am working through minor electrical items and found that the interior door mounted lights and the boot coutesy light are missing the festoon type bulbs. Rimmers catalogue ref numbers seems to indicate different bulbs are needed but the original 1978 manual on the 7 does not list them at all.

Does anyone know the sze and rating as I hope to get them locally - always assuming they are still available.

TBH the easiest thing to do with small items like this is just to give one of the specialists a bell. I don't usually use Rimmers, but I'm quite sure that either S&S or Robsport could pop the relevant bulbs in the post before you can say 'Lucas, Prince of Darkness'. Postage for small items like this is cheap enough too :P

Thanks guys

I thought there was only one size but vehicle wirings web site lists 4 different ones!

265 Festoon 10x42mm 12v 10 amp 62p

273 Festoon 15x42mm 12v 21 amp 65p

239 Festoon 11x36mm 12v 5 amp 50p

256 Festoon 7.5x35mm 12v 3amp 58p

Hence the question! I am guessing the 21 amp unless it will melt the plastic!

Hi Mike

The part number for the bulb is GLB207

It is a 12v 7w bulb, approx measurement is 35mm x 10mm. A little higher or lower wattage will not make a massive difference but don't go for 21w it may damage the plastic.

if you want it to be brighter you could always go for LEDs. if you paste this link into your browser you will see what I mean http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/default.php?cPa...50261913e5c3a31

Hope that helps

Bryan

Thanks for that - a different rating again!

I had the problem on the transmission tunnel light on my 6 - I used the correct bulb but left it on to help read a map in the dark and the heat from the bulb part melted the plastic!
