Exhaust/manifold bolts extraction

Recommended Posts

How do I remove the old bolts? These are parts #9 in Moss p. 16. Thanks for your suggestions.

Bob I assume you mean the studs in the outlet of the manifold where the down pipe bolts on.

Im afraid they can be a bit of a pain to remove. The usual method is to soak them in Plusgas or Castrol Flick releasing agent for a few hours and then lock a pair of steel nuts with the flats parallel on to the protruding section and then apply a good amount of heat to the Manifold where the studs go in. By using a good length socket down over both nuts and alternately undoing then tightening they should come out. Be careful to keep the socket in line otherwise it is possible to break a corner off the manifold.
