TR3 rear differential exhibits friction

Recommended Posts

My seldom used TR3A would not cooperate on my drive this morning. Starting was fine but it would not roll freely. I jacked up car and all wheels rotated easily. I could not roll car manually out of garage as I always do with very small effort.  Tires are at pressure. Drove up and down driveway until it rolled at what I call 85% free roll.

Any ideas?  Should I take it out to high speed road to help it?

Thanks

I went ahead and highway drove it. All seems fine. It was strange since I drive it at about 6 weeks intervals and the rear drag never happened before. Differential fluid was at level.

Thanks

Flat-spotting of the tyres.  It happens if a car is static for a long time. After a while of driving the rubber warms up and the flat-spots disappear.  Different makes of tyres do this to different degrees.
