monty
Just put on the alloy 'Surrey' hard-top for the first time & one of the front bolts by the windscreen seems a poor fit into the thread in the hard-top, perhaps cross threaded in the past. Any cure for this? Can it be easily re-threaded? Due to the awkward location in the hard-top it seems a 'one-shot' deal to me! Also the hard-top squeaks front & back on the rubber seals. Any known cure for this apart from silicone/rubber lubricant? Many thanks once again.
stuart
It is possible to re thread the front mounts with a helicoil but take care when drilling the old thread out it is very easy to go right through and then out through the top!! Its 5/16th UNF.Cheapest suppliers for the helicoil kit is Unithread ltd in south devon tel 01803 559595. As to the squeeks it sounds as if something is not quite tight enough as normally the top will pull down quite tight on the seals so check all mountings or failing that a bit of vaseline usually stops most squeeks (ooer missus!!)
