Overdive Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Overdrive was working ok - now I can hear the solenoid clicking in when you turn the ignition on regardless of whether the gearbox is in any gear including neutral and regardless of whether the overdrice switch is on or off! Any clues whats happened?

Many thanks

Dave

Possibly a short circuit to earth in the wiring from the relay to the OD switch or in the switch itself.  The wiring should look like this:

Power goes to the white wire and W1 when the ignition is turned on, so a short to earth on W2 will pull the relay in regardless of the OD switch position.   If you disconnect the wire from W2 it should stop doing it.

If it does, reconnect the wire and disconnect the other end from the OD switch. If the fault is still there there must be a short to earth on that wire.  If it stops, there may be a short in the OD switch.
