Dic Doretti
It was the Scottish TR Weekend this weekend and over 80 TRs were expected and despite the indifferent weather there was a full house. There was probably the first TR to be registered in Scotland in 1953 (registered MGA!) and another beautiful 1953 geranium coloured TR2 also first registered in Scotland but now resident in England. Every model of TR was represented except a Peerless including Wayne in his Grinnall who was up to his usual matchless standard giving his commentary which celebrated the Triumph centenary and 50 years of the TR Register in Scotland. In the background was the historic Doune Hillclimb to add further interest. The event was well supported by the TR Register with Phil Horsley manning the Register gazebo with a range of goodies and Chairman Westbury was also there along with other officials, even the club president, Tom Purves was there racing his TR3A along with 17 other TRs forming the largest class in the hillclimb. A great time was had by all and it was good to catch up with friends who I had last seen at the Scottish TR Weekends and Doune Hillclimbs in the early 1980s.
