Double Duck

I am gradually doing up my TR7 V8 DHC which I have had for nearly four years. I have agreed to buy a new hood c/w attached mechanism. The seller has told me it is a double duck hood. Pray tell what is this as I have never heard of such a thing.

The double-duck hoods aren't vinyl like the originals, or mohair like the most expensive replacement hoods. They are some sort of canvas. I fitted one to my first TR7V8 and it looked and worked fine. Not seen one for a while now.

Thanks for the info. Is it simple enough to change over hood mechanism with the hoods attached ? I`m not the most skilled most mechanically but would like to give it a go.

I managed to change the hood on mine in an afternoon. (With several cups of tea!) There's a series of little bolts along the back of the hood which are behind the back piece of carpet on the parcel shelf, these hold the back of the hood to the deck panel. The sides of the frame are simply bolted on each side of the car, they take a bit of lining up when you put the new hood on but with a bit of fiddling it's not too bad. This was the first time I have dealt with a convertable roof and found it quite straightforward to do.
