trt74
On the Dutch auctionsite www.marktplaats.nl I saw an interesting ex- works TR3 for sale, which has participated in the Mille Miglia of 1957 ( Reg.nr. SHP520). The car has not yet been sold. Look under: Auto's en then: Triumph. Regards, Tim
mike ellis
There are a number of ex works sidescreen cars on the market at the moment as well as SHP 520. PDU 20 ('54 Alpine Rally car) recently failed to sell at auction, it reached £34,000. OVC 276 (Mille Miglia car) is for sale, I believe for a similar sort of price. Also those of you who were at Malvern may have noticed that Bill Piggott will be selling his TR3 SRW 992, one of the 1956 works team cars.
tony13579
also one at auction here http://www.barons-auctions.com/lots/YDU208.htm Featured in Graham Robsons book, this unique TR3A is one of the original factory experimental cars, as denoted by the X 592 chassis number and X667 engine number. Well known in the TR world, YDU 208 was used as a development car for the Indenpendant Rear Suspension, that would eventually find its way onto the TR4A irs. The car was eventually returned to standard TR3A specification and sold as a New Car in 159. Offered in very sound, usable condition, rather than a concours trailer queen, the car is also equipped with a tuned engine and a factory hard top. The car is said to be a joy to drive and is complete with extensive history file, previous MoT certifcates, letters, copies of origjnal factory pictures during the development works and a copy of Graham Robsons book Triumph TR's The Complete Story. This is a unique piece of history from another famous name from the British Car Industry, which has been long defunct. Though the TR3/3A accounted for more four cylinder TR's than any other model, less than 2000 remained on UK shores. This is a rare car in any terms. See below for further details. The modification was removed and the car returned to standard spec’ by the factory and then sold new in 1959. Some of the Chassis work is still to be seen. Car is mentioned in G.Robson’s book Triumph TR’s Complete Story with Photos of the Chassis and modifications.
