Graeme Robinson
I'm just completing the fitting of all the ancilliary items to the engine prior to re uniting the body to my 61 3a but I cant find the oil breather pipe in my many boxes of bits. I'm being told that the breather was removed from the 3a's prior to 1961; my 59 model has one but I just thought I'd ask the question on the forum before investigating further. Thanks Graeme
Hamish
Mine is a '59 3a and has one as well, modified so it doesn't have the "u" bend pointing at the road. I also have the smaller vent on the rocker cover. But they will be vented to an oil breather/catch tank. It's damn nearly 28mm as is some plumbing copper pipe. I suppose it's down to how the later model s engine breathes and how robust the rear oil seal is ? I believe the scroll seal doesn't like crank case pressure. Thanks Graeme If you can find it then do fit it as it works better than the later closed breathing system and it was fitted through TR4 until late end of 4 production BTW. Stuart.
