TR Mitch Posted July 29, 2015 Report Share Posted July 29, 2015 One comment I received was that by fitting a cowl, you'd limit the air passing around the sides of the engine so the alternator, exhaust etc might get hotter with less airflow. Not sure if it's still fitted to your car but I put a sheet of insulated ally sheet between the Phoenix manifold and the starter so the starter didn't get cooked by the exhaust. I expect that aluminium sheet is still there, but I've not looked. Given that 5s were not originally fitted with full cowls and working to the principle of "If it isn't broke, don't fix it", I've decided not to fit one.
