I was on the point of ordering some Hydrate 80 from Bilt Hamber when I found Eastwood Internal frame coating, 12515 in a Frost catalogue. This comes with a 24" nozzle which will help me access the rear of my chassis inside.

I was wondering how to squirt the Hydrate 80 inside the box section. Is it possible without drilling holes. We have a garden sprat which does not have the long tube.

Which product is best and is there a sprayer that I could buy?

Thanks for any feedback

Hi Richard,

where are you going to spray and why?

What is the condition of the surface you are going to coat.?

if you are doing behind panels etc then you may need to clean these before coating!!

If you are doing the chassis rails then you will need to get access through drilled holes etc. Internal cleaning would be difficult/impossible.

If the surface is rusty with no chance of removal then it needs to be sealed in - remove the oxygen.

Hydrate 80 reads well as does the Frost product but sounds too good to be true.

Bondarustprimer does work and used by many rebuilders. When dry a coat of Waxoyl etc on top.

How to apply (this could get messy). Most of these products can be thinned slightly so a simple garden sprayer with a lance may be handy.

If the lance is too short/rigid etc then replace with a 5/16" plastic tube and some sort of spray head on the end guided with a stiff wire.

The chassis will need access holes drilling get your bungs first). 1/2"dia would be useful to get a pipe in.

The chassis (if it is anything like a 4A) will have compartments all over the place. Each compartment will need at least one hole.

Better still get a specialist to apply it.

Food for thought

Roger
