alan_thomas
After accumulating the parts I decided to 'bite the bullet' and start restoring my sprint engined 7. Cut the front wings off and inner arches are in good condition except the lip which I have now repaired and a 2 small patches of rust where 2 angle shaped brackets are spot welded to the inner arch. These angle brackets are bolted, each with 2 x 6mm bolts to the vertical sides of the turret. These brackets do not seem to serve any function (they cannot add any significant strength) except act as fantastic rust traps for the inner wing and turret sides. Anyone like to venture why Mr Triumph added them? - Alan
tr7v8
Acts a bit like a brace, its not on the early cars, supposidly stifens the front end up, I cant see it really doing that, especially with the way they rust. I have spoken to S&S on it before and they recon they serve no real purpose except as good rust traps. Maybe leylands real reason was to hold up the inner arches as they rusted off the car even quicker.... Tom
