1972 Pi starting problem. AAArgh

Recommended Posts

Think I've got to the bottom of the problem...
Just taken the fuel filter off and found a load of crystalline sludge in the bottom of the housing and more worryingly a load of wafer thin pieces of plastic/papery debris. it must have come off the inner metal surface of the filter or even the tank.

I cleaned all the bits out and refitted it as I haven't got a spare yet (just ordered 3 genuine lucas ones off a guy on ebay)

I think the **** was being sucked onto the filter reducing flow and overnight dropping back off allowing fuel flow.

My fault as I overlooked the fuel filter change, I did it when I bought the car and not since, I just checked the log book and it was back in 2003
Thanks to all the help and support from all who replied to the thread, fingers crossed a new filter will solve the issue
