Graeme Robinson
Hi, I'm restoring a R/H drive 59 3a and would like to know what I should be using to cover the hole where the throttle lever would extend into the engine bay (intended for a L/H drive car) please; there's the large hole for the bush itself plus the 4 fixing holes for the self tapping screws. Also, my car has a thin strip (approx 3mm) of metal about 2" long fitted vertically with a 2 to 3mm gap between this & the bulkhead in roughly the same location, any ideas what this is for? billg
These metal strips have been mentioned before I think? I thought that they could have been a manufacturing aid to help fit in a jig when the tub was assembled or slug for painting? Not sure... Regards Bill G@ NB
stuart
Make up a blanking plate with the 4 screws as fixing with a little sealant around the hole. The strip is to retain the edge of the steering column rubber cover. Stuart.
BlueTR3A-5EKT
Factory book and my car say use 600400 1.5" diameter rubber grommet, but as Stuart says a metal plate with sealant is a great solution also. Cheers Peter W
