colin addison
Hi, The oil pressure gauge on my '2' started to leak this past summer, not from the pipe connection which looked good, but appearing to come from the front of the gauge. Does anyone have experience of repairers for this type of instrument, as usual I prefer to have the original repaired rather than put a new one in which would look very strange! thanks Colin

Lebro
These guages are faily crude, just a "C" shaped flattened copper tube, with the feed pipe one end, and the other end sealed. As the pressure increases the tube tries to straighted out, and some simple mechanics translates this slight movement into movement of the needle. If the leak is not from the feed pipe to "C" pipe joint, then it is probable that a soldered seam has failed somewhere on the "C" pipe. This can be repaired simply by re-soft soldering the leaky part. Anyone reasonably skilled at soldering etc should have no trouble doing this. Anyway the first stage would be to remove the glass, & dial from the guage, then apply pressure - either from the car, or an airline if available. This should identify where the leak is. Bob. colin addison
Bob Too late, but thank you anyway. I took Tony's advice and sent it to Speedograph, who have replied with a price, and around 2 weeks to repair it. So thanks both again Colin
