chris turner
Does any one know the whereabouts of 1955 burgundy TR2 registered as GRC 502 in 1955. It had standard steel wheels but had 4 bolt on spinners in place of the hubcaps. A friend of mine owned it in the 60s and we wondered if it still exists.
John Saunders
Hi Chris, I can tell you about what became of GRC 502. It was a TR2 chassis no. TS 4537. It ended up at Spurr Motors Sheffield (now gone) sometime about 1973/4. There, it was mainly or totally stripped for spares. The owner Mal Bishop was/is still around the Sheffield area and did have the paperwork and maybe a few spares for GRC 502 a while ago. He did dismantle a few sidescreen TR's and I got to know him at that time when I bought some bits for my own TR2 from him. Sorry not to give you better news. All the best, John S. chris turner
Thanks John, I am from Sheffield and I know Malcolm Bishop, Spurr Motors does still exist and Malcolm still specialises in American cars, in fact it is less than a mile from where I live so it is a small world. The ex owner of the car who is a friend of mine also knows Malcolm so I will tell him and perhaps they will have a chat about the car.
