Jonathan_bell
So whilst I was resetting the points I noticed that if I applied some torque to the rotor arm it is able to rotate, as expected! However it did not return back to the original position, I seem to remember on my other old car that it should return back on the spring! Any thoughts? Could it be the governor springs? stuart
Sounds as if the advance weights are seizing up below the base plate. Time for a reconditioning of the distributor. http://www.distributordoctor.com/ Stuart.
Jonathan_bell
Thanks Stuart, I will take a look under the plate and report back.
Jonathan_bell
Taken the cover off to inspect the weights and springs, is it normal to have different types of springs? One looks thicker wire gauge than the other
