Alec Pringle
Those of you with seriously powerful V8 installations might do worse than consider if a clutch replacement might be due in the foreseeable future . . . . . AP Racing still produce a choice of uprated clutch assemblies for the Rover V8 engines, but in view of the drastic reduction in availability of other classic fast road/race application components then it may not be long before the Rover V8 clutch availability dries up ? Details on the AP Racing website . . . . http://www.apracing.com/products/road_car_upgrades/special_tuning_clutches/vehicle_applications/rover.aspx Cheers Alec
jothecat
Hi Alec Do you think it appropriate for a 4.6 with 330bhp? I admit I don't know what clutch is in there at the mo but its probably standard. Jo
Alec Pringle
Hi Jo, a standard clutch won't last long with that much grunt - torque is what's really relevant. If I recall correctly there are 3 AP clutch variants for the SD1 Rover, and I'd be using the beefier of the two road/comp versions, NOT the full race version for road use - the action is too much in/out like a light switch . . . . . Guest Wayne S
I **think** the AP Racing Red Clutch kit is the one for SD1 type Rover V8 high performance road applications. Long since discontinued by AP Racing and as a result are now very expensive.... if you find one! The middle of the friction plate is painted red with "AP Racing" embossed in it - at least mine was.
