Jersey Royal
Hi All, Had a call from a local Tr Register member today. He has a dodgy hip so i am going to fit the above fibreglass top to his car on monday. Anyone have an experience with one of these? Thanks Guy Edited December 9, 2012 by Jersey Royal
stuart
Most of the Honeybourne type of Fibre tops only have about four mounting points with a sort of turnbuckle type hook to hold them down on the "B" post top and a couple of bolts at the front. Jersey Royal
Thanks Stuart. I have had a brief look at it two rods on the front whish will drop into the top of the windscreen, As you say two hook type fixings on the B post. At the rear there is a flange, which althought doesnt have holes in it has a couple of indents which may line up with the bolt holes in the rear deck where back of hood was fixed. First impression was good, looks very close to an original factory top, better looking than a Lenham top. Can beat an original metal jobby. Exception being plastic windows and a horrible rubber seal around its base, the fins are slightly fatter. Hope i dont have to faff about with windscreen frame and windows, hopefully not as this car is relatively untouched. Stuart its the BRG one i sent you photos of. Will take some photos for reference. stuart
Yes I know the one. As long as his chassis is still holding up it should go on OK. I think the fibre tops are a bit more forgiving to fit. Stuart.
Jersey Royal
Hi All, Went to my friends workhop and fitted his Honeybourne top. Went on easily, but had to extend the thread on the attachement hooks on b posts. Here are a few photos so you can see what one of these tops looks like. Windows are perspex.
