Oddball
Hi All I am attempting to find the best way to introduce about one to one and a half degree negative camber on the front of my six. I understand that the camber can be adjusted by adding and removing shims from the lower wishbones, however I not sure if the number of shims required would be too great , any thoughts? Using shorter spring would also produce negative camber but how short and how much ? Any thought ? Cameron 71 TR6 Aberfeldy Perthshire.
Guest ron
Hi Cameron How many shims are fitted at present? If the camber is neutral or slightly positive it doesn't take much shimming to produce negative camber. I'm running with very slight negative camber, I don't remember exactly what's fitted but it is certainly no more than 2 or 3 shims. Personally I wouldn't fit shorter springs, the ground clearance is poor enough on standard ones! Ron
Oddball
Hi Ron I'm not sure how many shims I have at present looks like only one or two, the camber is neutral so I have some room for a few more. I agree with you about lowering the car, I have a track upto the house, I can't go any lower!! Cameron
jean
In case you add shims make sure the bolts are long anough to cover the additional space. A few threads should still be visible when the nuts are tightened, especially if you fit nylocs ??? Jean
