HRCR Historic Road Rally Championship

Recommended Posts

The cat's out of the bag for the HRCR Historic Road Rally Championship and we haven't had to wait for the Classic Car Show next weekend for the announcement.

Interesting thing is that THIS is the championship proper (they're all night rallies except East Anglian Classic, which is day/night), with the daytime events (presumably the Tour of Cheshire, Jubilee, Targa, Palladwr, etc.) becoming the "Clubman's Championship", the only event being on both chamionships is the EAC.

Looks like this at present:

22/23 Jan - Carpetbagger

12/13 Feb - Bruce Robinson

5/6 Mar - Gremlin

9/10 Apr - VK Derbyshire

7/8 May - East Anglia (full event)

11/12 Jun - Garstang & Preston Memorial

6/7 Aug - St. Wilfrid's

??8/9 Oct - Hexham

??15/16 Oct - Harvest

(not certain of these two dates)

12/13 Nov - Cossack

20/21 Nov - Ilfracombe

10/11 Dec - Welsh Retro

Best 8 from 12 count.

The HRCR newsletter also states that "Members are reminded that all vehicles intending to claim points in either .. championship must have an MSA Historic Vehicle Identity Form. Due to a processing backlog this requirement has been deferred until 1st April 2005 but crews are encouraged to apply asap."

I'm doing the main championship with Paul Robinson in the Mexico, and the Clubman's in the TR4 with Ade Bennett but these events haven't been announced yet - my suggestion is that the Clubman's would be the best one for us to try to do as a TRactors team - the night rallies really are a bit too severe a test for the TR's if you intend to try reasonably hard - I did the 061 this weekend (2nd Historic) and there's no way a TR would have got round the whole thing - there was a TR4a entered, but they cut large amounts of route as it was so rough and the timing so tight throughout - 180 miles in under 7 hours around the lanes of Derbyshire!

Andy,

No mention of the reshaped Mexico off-side? Better get those spot lights fixed.

Jim   :)

Ah, yes .... we fought the wall and the wall won and all that  :D

Resorted to strapping a torch on the wing top after PC Plod stopped us! Still, we got a finish and I secured the ANWCC Novice Historic Road Rally Championship.   ... just got to find a few new panels, at least they are cheaper than the TR equivalent.

So Jim, are you up for the HRCR Clubman's championship then?

Anyone else?

cheers, Andy

You read it here first ... here are the rounds for the - HRCR Clubmans Rally Championship ... these look like the best bet for TR4s :D

There are no surprises here:

March 12 - TOUR OF CHESHIRE

April 3 - ALAN ROGERS

April 17 - ILKLEY JUBILEE

May 7-8 - EAST ANGLIAN CLASSIC

May 29 - HUGHES RALLY

June 11-12 - TOUR OF ANGLESEY

June 26 - LEUKAEMIA

July 23 - ROSS TRADERS

September 3 - TARGA RUSTICANA

October 8 - REGIS RALLY

October 30 - PALLADWR RALLY

The night events mentioned in the first post will form the "HRCR Road Rally Championship" - Neither championship has the word 'Historic' in its title. The two new championships are to be considered of equal status in replacing the current HRCR Historic Road Rally Championship.
