After returning my car to the road two weeks ago after a ten year rebuild I’m slowly working through a number of snags, as to be expected.

One area I would like some advice with is the Speedo.

It will need to go for a rebuild as the mile and trip indicator do not work and the reading at 30 in top is 42mph and at 40mph it show 52mph.

I have 165/80 x 15 tyres

I’ve checked the axle ratio and that is 3.7 and the number on the Speedo is 1180

So my questions are :-

1. Is this the correct speedo for 3.7axle – read the technicalities cd and it does seem correct

2. Could the tyres be the reason for the 12mph error at 30/40 mph

3. Any recommendations for a good repairer who with the details of tyres and axle ratio could return a fairly accurate Speedo.

Thanks in advance

Alexander
