Aluminium Rocker Pestal bracket clearances...

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Whilst putting the engine back together today i noticed that the Rocker Pedestal Brackets

are aluminium alloy.

According to the manual

Inlet clearance 0.010"

Exhaust Clearance 0.012"

Tiuring specs.

Looked through the red book and found some info on these brackets.

Briefly they were incorporated after TS.12564E, reason being ally higher degree of expansion when hot, enables

the same rocker clearance to be used for exhaust valves as previously applied to inlet. This reduction will reduce

tappet noise when the engine is cold

So with the ally brackets inlet and exhaust should be 0.010"

Will be interesting to see what the POs mechanics have done.

Cheers

Guy

Stick to 10 12 unless it is noisey when warm

Thanks Neil,

With luck should have the engine and gearbox ready for re intall in the next couple of weeks.

Ally fuel tank due anytime before xmas, so looking at most likely start up first couple weeks in new year.

So will take on board what you say

Cheers

GUY
