Brake Switch Replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi Chris,

This is what I have done before and got away without bleeding.....

Fill the master cylinder to the top with brake fluid.

Get a piece of cling film and stretch it over the open top of the master cylinder and screw the top back on.

Get the right size spanners etc ready to hand.

Loosen off the switch and remove.

Immediately replace with the new switch.

Remove the cling film.

Draw off the fluid to the right level.....use a syringe.

Has worked for me numerous times but get everthing ready and speed is key.

Dick.

I've just done the job quickly without bleeding. The modern switches don't seem to last, especially if the car sits for a while through the winters here, so I've done it a few times and always have a spare switch or two on hand.
